Eclipse created and introduced the concept of an integrated navigation and mobile entertainment product at CES in 2004 and they have continued to innovate in this category, winning awards every year at CES. Therefore, they wanted a vehicle as innovative to showcase in their booth. Rick Bottom was quick to suggest using the hot new 2009 Ford Flex and Eclipse agreed. In the end, they won a Ford Design Award.

Our idea of home theater in a vehicle, a 30" screen, in your face speakers and luxury room touches. It's enough to make you fall in love with Mercedes-Benz's misguided design for an SUV or crossover vehicle or whatever the R550 is supposed to be.

This video features the Rockford Fosgate audio system and install in the VW Tiguan. The vehicle was on display at the 2008 SEMA Show. While the system is made to play loud at shows, it's pretty decent in terms of sound quality, all things considered. Certainly there's more than enough power to rattle your brain. The Tiguan is cool, but Rockford really helps to "make" the vehicle.

See the build videos here before you read the story: "Another touch to the center console is the steering wheel. It’s actually the custom-cut Mercedes logo between the seats. I’m told that this car was built for listening, not driving, so the poor ergonomics of this location isn’t an issue. I tried to convince them that the location was actually ideal for driving, but no one seemed to agree."

Here’s a recreation of a conversation I’ve had with my wife. And my dad. And my sister. W/D/S: Slow down. Me: Slow down your mouth.W/D/S: You just missed the turn, idiot. Me: If you’re so great, why don’t you just drive then, Mario Andretti? (Note: Dale Earnhardt is sometimes substituted for Mario Andretti.) W/D/S: Fine. I will.

Customized H2 Cargo SpaceMost teenagers don’t want to hang out with their dads on weekends. But what if instead of taking you golfing with a bunch of old guys or trying to get you to watch sports on TV, your dad took you to car shows to flaunt his badass custom SUV? That’s the weekend activity Tom Kamerer engages in with his son Tommy and their 2005 Hummer H2. Kamerer the Elder hooked up with Tommy Bostic, who turned the H2 into an in-your-face work of art, using plenty of MTX audio equipment (including MTX’s 369-pound JackHammer subwoofer). The result is something any son could get behind...
