While working with Dave “Fishman” Rivera on the Expedition for Metra and JL Audio, I needed a new vehicle for work with a bed to transport wood. Enter the Chevy S-10. I’d wanted one since I first saw the new design in the late '90s, so when I found this I jumped at the chance.

Take a long look. We may not see Dodge vehicles on the road much longer. Maybe they'll all get Fiat-ized. I get visions of cute little trucks, like some micro-car loving European's idea of what a truck should be. Now this, my friends, is an American truck.

Jesse Sprister of Drive Customs doesn’t half-ass it. When he decided to customize his 2003 Dodge Ram 1500, he went all the way. In addition to modifying the exterior appearance of the truck and boosting its performance, he completely redid the interior with a powerful, all-custom sound system.

Take a 1989 Chevrolet Caprice, a four-piece conversion kit, and a weekend of work and what do you get? Well, it’s not the completed custom Super Stepside truck you see here, but it’s a beginning. Photojournalist Joe Greeves had gotten a bit bored of covering so many custom vehicles. However, seeing Don Fuselier’s version of the Super Stepside conversion pumped some enthusiasm into him: enough to make him buildi his own totally unique Super Stepside.
