If you’re into custom cars and like to take on DIY projects then you have to love working with fiberglass. One of the nice things about fiberglass is that it can copy the shape of almost anything and once cured is incredibly strong and lightweight.

Designed to fire through the pass-through window between the rear seats, this enclosure in the trunk of a Honda also serves as an amp rack. It takes the basic MDF sub enclosure to the next level. Jay Ludwig of Rodz in Burbank, Calif., shows us how it was done so you can replicate it in your own vehicle.

    Toyota Prius sub enclosure

For this stealthy installation in a Toyota Prius, Jay Ludwig of Rodz in Burbank, Calif., molded the subwoofer enclosure into the cargo area. An existing storage compartment in the rear corner was the mold for the bottom half of the enclosure while the walls of the cargo space formed the top. By utilizing this nook, the rest of the space remains open for groceries and other cargo.

This is a great show, mainly because the subject of the episode is the classic BMW 635CSi, which happens to be one of our project cars, albeit one that is languishing in the parking lot of MV Designz, awaiting some repair work. We have the opposite problem from the one documented on the show. We've worked on the interior and some of the audio but mechanical and engine issues undermine the mods completed thus far. If you're like us, you might learn a thing or two from watching the program, like going to England if you want to buy a 635CSi's (that's right, plural) for cheap!

Simplicity in Sound goes to town on this customer's Corvette C6. The system was designed to be stealth. With the covers on and the carpet on top and the hatch looks factory. But Simplicity added some flash underneath. Here we cover the build on the hatch area that holds the woofers and amps.

In this how-to, Jay Ludwig of Rodz in Burbank, California, creates a custom sub enclosure for the trunk of this 1968 Cadillac convertible. The ported enclosure holds two MTX subs, ready to lay out a pounding. Here’s the step-by-step for this (relatively) easy project which you can do in any vehicle with a large enough trunk.
